Silvercraft SH-200

Silvercraft SH-200 is an Italian multi-purpose two-seater helicopter, designed in 1977 by Silvercraft SpA.

The design of the helicopter model Silvercraft SH-200 began by Italian aircraft developers in the first half of the 70s of the last century. As a fundamental principle, aircraft builders from Silvercraft SpA used the rather popular Silvercraft SH-4 aircraft model, which appeared several years earlier. Nevertheless, the design of the aircraft was improved, and its flight performance became more promising, so the project was supposed to become very popular, however, due to some functional limitations of its use, the Silvercraft SH-200 helicopter was never launched in mass production.

The main difference between the models of light helicopters Silvercraft SH-4 and Silvercraft SH-200 is capacity and speed, as well as range. These factors made it possible to increase the applicability of the aircraft, however, since the Silvercraft SH-200 helicopter had low passenger capacity and could not, unlike the Silvercraft SH-4 model, transport cargo on its board, the project found a failure.

The first test flight of the aircraft model Silvercraft SH-200 took place in April 1977, while all the tests the aircraft passed very successfully, in connection with which the serial production began to be prepared. However, the lack of demand led to the fact that already in 1979, the project was officially canceled.

Due to the good aerodynamic design of the Silvercraft SH-200 helicopter, and its relatively small size, this aircraft has a very high flight speed, is very good in terms of control and is quite maneuverable.

The cabin of the Silvercraft SH-200 helicopter has a closed type and allows you to place two people here – a pilot and a passenger. Since the helicopter control system does not have a paired type, the aircraft cannot be operated as a training tool, and the lack of adequate free space in the cockpit does not allow the current model to be used for cargo transportation.

The power plant of the Silvercraft SH-200 helicopter consists of one Lycoming LHIO-360-C1A piston aircraft engine capable of developing a thrust of 205 hp. Thanks to the use of a sufficiently powerful power plant, the Silvercraft SH-200 helicopter can accelerate to a speed of 180 km \ h. (maximum indicator), while the maximum distance following the helicopter limits a range of 350 kilometers.
