McDonnell Douglas MD-82

MD-82 is a mid-range passenger aircraft developed by the American company McDonnell Douglas. McDonnell Douglas announced its intention to create a modification of the MD-80 aircraft in April 1979. Since the Mexican airline, Aeromexico became the first customer (which should operate aircraft in rather harsh conditions of mountains and high temperatures), the company intended to develop an option more powerful turbofan engines, which would meet the conditions of such operation. The first aircraft, designated MD-82, completed its first flight on January 8, 1981. It was certified at the end of July, and deliveries began in August.

Since November 1986, MD-82 aircraft have been built in China under a license from an aircraft factory in Shanghai. The contract was signed in April 1985, according to which the construction of 25 aircraft from parts supplied from the United States was allowed. The first licensed aircraft was built in the spring of 1987 and made its first flight in early July. In April 1990, an agreement was reached on the construction of another 20 aircraft, and in this case, individual structural elements must be manufactured in China. The MD-82 aircraft is considered in China as one of the main candidates in the Trankliner program, which provides for the development of a fleet of short-range aircraft. Under this program, in 1994 it was decided to build another 20 new MD-82 aircraft, as well as build new McDonnell Douglas MD-90 aircraft in the future.

The aircraft is equipped with the usual avionics system with electromechanical data display facilities. In recent years, at the request of the customer, the digital complex EFIS can be installed. Installed 2 turbojet engines Pratt & Whitney JT8D-217 (thrust 9080 kgs) or JT8D-217C (thrust 9455 kgs). This modification has been produced since 1981. By the beginning of 1997, about 585 aircraft were built.
