Helicopter ZA-6 Sanka

Aerocopter ZA-6 Sanka is a light Ukrainian multi-purpose helicopter designed by Aerocopter in 1999.

The multi-purpose aircraft model ZA-6 “Sanka” began to be created by aircraft manufacturers from the design bureau “Aerocopter” in the late 90s of the last century. The aircraft was supposed to receive a wide functional purpose, and despite its rather compact dimensions, it was not intended for private operation, although at the first stages of development, aircraft manufacturers did not exclude the possibility that the helicopter could be exported to other countries and states.

The helicopter of the model Aerocopter ZA-6 Sanka, also referred to as the Aerocopter AK-1, has a lightweight, but rather strong structure, the aerodynamic shape of which provides the aircraft with good controllability, high reliability, and maneuverability quite acceptable for this type of aircraft.

The helicopter ZA-6 Sanka underwent its first flight tests in 1999, and the prototype of the light multi-purpose helicopter successfully passed all the required tests, which is why it went into serial production. The main purpose of the aircraft of this model is to carry out patrol operations and observation from the air, however, Ukrainian aircraft manufacturers did not exclude the possibility that shortly an expanded version with a commercial purpose may appear based on the Aerocopter ZA-6 Sanka model.

Among other things, one of the destinations of the Aerocopter ZA-6 Sanka helicopter is also a training function, which is mainly due to the presence of a paired control system.

The cockpit of the Za-6 Sanka Aerocopter model is designed to carry two people – a pilot and one passenger, and, due to lack of space, the Za-6 Sanka Aerocopter helicopter cannot be used for cargo transportation, except for a small amount of baggage, which to some extent limits the functionality of this aircraft.

The light multipurpose aircraft model ZA-6 “Sanka” is equipped with a piston-type power plant consisting of one aircraft engine of the Subaru EJ-20 brand, which, having a capacity of 210 hp, allows the helicopter to accelerate to a maximum flight speed of 190 km \ h. The maximum range of this aircraft is limited to a distance of 500 kilometers, which is very acceptable for this type of aircraft.

According to data as of mid-2016, the production of helicopters of the Aerocopter model ZA-6 Sanka has been temporarily stopped.
