Aerotecnica AC-14

Aerotecnica AC-14 is a Spanish five-seat multipurpose military helicopter designed by Aerotecnica in 1957.

The design of the Aerotecnica AC-14 helicopter began by Spanish aircraft manufacturers in 1955. As the main base, design engineers used the Aerotecnica AC-12 model, which was able to successfully prove itself in the Spanish Air Force, but could not be as effective as possible in its operational plan.

The main distinguishing feature of the Aerotecnica AC-14 helicopter is its increased length in comparison with the Aerotecnica AC-12 model, which allows you to place up to 5 people on board, or, also, provides the ability to transport cargo of small weight and size. The external design of the aircraft has also undergone a number of changes, which provided the helicopter with less drag during flight, however, due to the increased dimensions of the aircraft, it did not positively affect the maneuverability index.

The Aerotecnica AC-14 helicopter carried out its first experimental lift into the air in 1957, while doing so. due to the fact that aircraft manufacturers from the company “Aerotecnica” previously had experience with testing aircraft similar to the current one, the helicopter Aerotecnica AC-14 successfully completed all tests and was immediately sent to serial production. Nevertheless, the demand for aircraft of this model was available only in the Spanish Air Force, where, for the entire release cycle, 10 aircraft of this model were delivered.

As before, the Aerotecnica AC-14 helicopter could have either an open or closed cockpit, however, the most popular were the layouts with a closed cockpit, which was mainly due to the fact that with a helicopter speed of 180 km / h, the pilot and passengers felt obvious discomfort, especially when it came to long flight distances.

Onboard the aircraft Aerotecnica AC-14 can accommodate up to five people, including one pilot and four passengers, which greatly increased the functionality of the aircraft of this model compared to the model Aerotecnica AC-12, onboard which could accommodate only two people. Moreover, due to the expansion of free space inside the cockpit, the Aerotecnica AC-14 helicopter can also be used for transportation of small loads, provided that the maximum take-off weight of the aircraft of 1350 kilograms is not exceeded.

The Aerotecnica AC-14 helicopter is equipped with one Turbomeca Artouste IIB piston aircraft engine, which is capable of developing a thrust of 400 hp. Due to the increased performance of the power plant, the flight speed of this aircraft also increased significantly, which at maximum performance can be up to 180 km / h. Subject to the use of additional fuel tanks, the helicopter can fly at distances up to 640 kilometers.
