HAL Lancer

HAL Lancer is an Indian multi-purpose military helicopter designed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited in 1997.

The design work of a multi-purpose military helicopter began to be carried out by Indian aircraft developers in the early 90s of the last century. Light aircraft of American and Canadian production was used as the basis, however, in fact, only the design features of these models were used, and in essence, the HAL Lancer aircraft has its design, its design features, and unique flight performance characteristics.

The aircraft of the HAL Lancer model has a multi-purpose purpose, in particular, this helicopter can be used as reconnaissance, patrol, search and rescue, and observation aircraft.

HAL Lancer made its first helicopter flight in 1997, while all test tests of the aircraft were very completed, and therefore a year later the project was put into serial production, where it was mainly carried out for the needs of the Indian Armed Forces.

The HAL Lancer helicopter has a light but strong enough construction that provides this aircraft with less resistance when flying and allows it to be sufficiently maneuverable, which provides the basic requirements for a military helicopter.

Onboard an aircraft of the HAL Lancer model, also referred to in some cases as the HAL SA-315B Cheetah can accommodate up to four people, which allows the aircraft to transport small groups of military personnel, for example, during special missions. If necessary, two passenger seats can be dismantled, and the helicopter can be used as a light transport aircraft, capable of carrying up to 500 kilograms of payload onboard.

In some cases, the HAL Lancer helicopter can also be used as a light attack aircraft, capable of effectively combating enemy manpower and lightly armored vehicles, for which, this aircraft has one large-caliber machine gun and a set of unguided missiles.

The HAL Lancer helicopter is equipped with a power plant consisting of one Turbomeca Artouste IIIB gas turbine aircraft engine capable of developing a lifting thrust of 550 hp, which in turn allows the helicopter to accelerate to a maximum flight speed of 210 km \ h., With a maximum range of 420 kilometers.
