Eagle Helicycle

Eagle Helicycle – American single-seat sports helicopter, designed in 1997 by the aircraft company “Eagle R&D”.

Aircraft developers from the American company Eagle R&D decided to design a small sports aircraft in the first half of the 90s of the last century. The need to create a light aircraft was due to the lack of such aircraft in the field of civil aviation, while the demand for such helicopters only increased every year.

At the design stage of the aircraft of the Eagle Helicycle model, it was assumed that light materials would be used in the design of the helicopter, which in turn would facilitate the design of the aircraft, allow the use of a less powerful and less expensive power plant, and ensure a high flight speed. To minimize the weight of the aircraft, aircraft manufacturers concluded that only one person could accommodate in the aircraft cabin, however, this drawback was well paid for by the low cost of the helicopter and its fairly high flight performance.

Eagle Helicycle made its first helicopter test flight in September 1997, and since the testing of the aircraft was completed, it entered serial production. The production of helicopters of the Eagle Helicycle model was carried out exclusively as kits for self-assembly, which allowed to reduce the cost of the aircraft as much as possible.

Helicopter Eagle Helicycle has high maneuverability and can fly at high speeds with the implementation of complex piloting techniques. Due to the lack of free space onboard, transportation of any cargo in the cockpit of an aircraft of this model is not possible, which is also explained by a rather low-power power plant.

The aircraft of the Eagle Helicycle model is equipped with one Solar T62-T32 gas turbine aircraft engine, which is capable of developing a thrust of 150 hp. The use of such a power plant made it possible to minimize the cost of manufacturing an aircraft, and at the same time provided the helicopter with a very high speed of movement, which at its maximum value is 180 km / h. The maximum distance over which an Eagle Helicycle is capable of flying is 260 kilometers, which, given the fact that the helicopter belongs to the class of sports aircraft, is a very acceptable indicator.

Over the entire production period, more than 85 aircraft of this model were built.
