Changhe Z-18

Changhe Z-18 is a medium-sized multi-purpose Chinese helicopter developed in 2014 by Changhe Aircraft Industries Corporation.

The development of the aircraft model Changhe Z-18 began by Chinese aircraft manufacturers in 2010, moreover, the design of a new transport multi-purpose helicopter was based on the model Changhe Z-8, which has been very actively used in China for a long time. The appearance of the Changhe Z-18 model helicopter was supposed to replace the operation of the Changhe Z-8 model aircraft, while the Chinese aircraft manufacturers intended to preserve the general design of the helicopter, which turned out to be very acceptable, but at the same time expand the functionality of the aircraft to increase the scope of applicability helicopter.

The Changhe Z-18 model made its first flight in 2013, while already in 2014, the project was officially launched into serial production, where this aircraft is located to this day. Most of the Changhe Z-18 model helicopters manufactured by Changhe Aircraft Industries Corporation are used by the armed forces of the People’s Republic of China, however, some of these aircraft are also used in the civilian aviation industry as vehicles for transporting goods on board and bulky.

In the military sphere, the Changhe Z-18 helicopter is positioned as an airborne weapon for fighting against ships and submarines of the enemy, for which this aircraft also has its weapons, including:

  • Set of anti-ship and anti-submarine torpedoes;
  • A set of deep-sea charges.

Among other things, Changhe Z-18 helicopters are also used as a transport or search and rescue air assets, which is facilitated by their very long maximum flight range.

Onboard, the helicopter Changhe Z-18 can accommodate up to 12 people, including two crew members and 10 passengers, or military personnel. A helicopter can also carry about 6.5 tons of payload on its board, which makes it very acceptable in terms of its operational capabilities.

The power plant of the Changhe Z-18 helicopter consists of three Changzhou Lan Xiang WZ108-N gas turbine aircraft engines, each of which has a sufficiently large thrust, and that allows the helicopter to reach a speed of 265 km / h, and also to cover a distance of up to 600 kilometers.
