Why the US is looking for a replacement for the legendary Apache helicopter.
In March 2019, the first flight of the demonstrator of the Sikorsky – Boeing SB-1 Defiant multi-purpose high-speed military helicopter took place at the West Palm Beach airfield.
The maximum take-off weight of the SB-1 Defiant is 14.5 tons. The cruising speed of the aircraft is 460 kilometers per hour. The car accommodates up to 18 people. SB-1 Defiant is created by the American companies Sikorsky (part of Lockheed Martin Corporation) and Boeing as part of the Future Vertical Lift project, which involves updating the fleet of American military helicopters after 2030.
