Avicopter AC301

Avicopter AC301 is a multi-purpose Chinese helicopter designed by Aviation Industry Corporation of China in 2011.

The development of multi-purpose helicopters Avicopter AC301 was carried out by the Chinese aircraft manufacturing corporation Aviation Industry Corporation of China (“AVIC”) in the late 2000s, while the Changhe Z-11 helicopter model was used as a base. The aircraft underwent many various changes and additions, as a result of which it became more effective in terms of its operational capabilities, which provided this aircraft with a high level of popularity.

Due to some design improvements, the Avicopter AC301 helicopter, compared to the Changhe Z-11 model, acquired a more advanced aerodynamic shape, which reduced drag, improved aircraft controllability, and increased maneuverability of this aircraft, making it more perfect.

The model of the Chinese multi-purpose helicopter Avicopter AC301 was subjected to its first flight tests in 2011, moreover, the new project was able to complete all the required tests, which in turn allowed launching the current model in production, where it gained some popularity, moreover, as in the civilian aviation industry and in the military.

Depending on the layout of the cabin and on the modification of the aircraft, onboard the Avicopter AC301 helicopter can accommodate from four to 5 people, including in addition to 3-4 passengers, and one crew member. In addition to transporting people on board, the Avicopter AC301 model aircraft can also be used to transport various kinds of cargo, however, given the fact that the maximum take-off weight of the aircraft is limited to 2200 kilograms, and the helicopter’s weight is 1520 kilograms, the maximum load weight is not may exceed 650 kilograms, moreover, there are also several restrictions on dimensions.

As for the military scope of this helicopter, it is usually limited only to several tasks, in particular. This includes transporting people, performing patrol and observation flights, but as an independent combat unit, the aircraft is not positioned.

The Avicopter AC301 helicopter is equipped with a Changzhou WZ8D gas turbine power plant capable of developing 860 hp thrust, which in turn provides the aircraft with the ability to accelerate to a maximum flight speed of 240 km / h, while the maximum flight range of this aircraft model is limited to a distance of 560 kilometers.

The production of helicopters of the Avicopter AC301 model is carried out by Chinese aircraft manufacturers in two main versions:

  • Avicopter AC301 – the basic version of the aircraft;
  • Avicopter AC301A – An improved version with an extended cockpit and several minor technical additions.
