Airbus launches A220 assembly line in Alabama

Airbus plant in Mobile, Alabama opened a second final assembly line for the A220 aircraft. The hangar with an area of ​​25,100 m2 contains five posts on which you can collect both A220-100 and A220-300.

One of them is the first A220 aircraft for JetBlue. A low-cost carrier from the United States will be the second customer after Delta Air Lines, who will receive the aircraft of this family built in Mobile. Their deliveries should begin at the end of this year.

 Airbus began production of the A220 in Mobile in August 2019, using space in the final assembly hall of the A320 and newly built technical hangars. With the launch of the A220 assembly line in Alabama, a subsidiary of a European concern officially doubled its capacity. The main A220 aircraft manufacturing plant is located in Mirabelle, Canada.
